Welcome to the world of Nen!
Nen is the ability to sense, control, and manipulate and your own (and sometimes others) lifeforce. Nen has an infinite ways of being utilized, but you'll learn the most common applications as you advance through your training. You'll notice that most early abilities in this class are simple actions, and have restrictions regarding when they can be used. Until you begin to manifest Nen in your own unique way, Nen is mostly used to enhance specific parts of your body. This makes Nen an excellent supplementary or dual class, as it can be used to heighten other abilities and combat techniques.
At Tier 5 you'll learn Hatsu, which is your personal expression of Nen, as well as your aura-type. You may choose an aura-type (aside from Specialist), or ask for it to be decided with a 1d6.
Tier 1
Four Three Major Principles
You have learned three of the Four Major Principles of Nen: Ten, Zetsu, Ren.
Ten
The lifeforce that flows through your aura nodes goes right back into your body- it’s called recycling babe. You no longer age, and gain X to vitality, where X is the number of levels you have in the class.
Ren
Amplify your strength with your very life force; you can now use vitality (instead of robustness) for unarmed attacks.
Zetsu
Completely shut off your aura for advantage on sneak attacks and stealthy movement; with the tradeoff of not having access to any of your Nen abilities until your next turn.
Advanced techniques using combinations of these principles will be unlocked throughout the class.
Tier 2
Gyo
As a simple action, concentrate your life energy into your eyes to see auras. This has a variety of applications, such as enhancing perception of an enemy’s strength, picking out strong entities from a crowd, or even seeing residual auras left behind on non-living objects. Gyo ends when Nen is utilized for another advanced application.
En
As a simple action, expand your aura in a 25ft radius sphere to roll advantage on all defensive dodging or parrying until your next attack action or movement. This immediately ends other advanced applications of Nen.
Tier 3
Ko
Similar to Gyo, but no longer limited to just your eyes. As a simple action, you may concentrate all your life energy into one part of your body to enhance an action, such as kicking down a door, swinging an insanely heavy sword, or just sucker punching some jerk. Ko may persist between turns, but must be ended as a free action to practice other advanced forms of Nen (besides In).
In
Rather than completely shutting off your aura with Zetsu, you can conceal your aura as a simple action. When in combat, all enemies lose aggression on you until your next attack, as long as they have other valid targets. Taking a movement action does not break In.
Tier 4
Shu
Until now, your lifeforce could only enhance your own body and unarmed attacks. As a simple action, use Shu to envelop an object or weapon you’re touching with your lifeforce, which both strengthens it and increases its durability.
Ken
As an immediate reaction, drape your entire body with a dense layer of lifeforce to shield it from an attack, greatly increasing your ability to tank and mitigate damage from any attacks that target you physically. Ends other advanced forms of Nen, except for In.
Tier 5
Hatsu
Discovered through water manipulation, you are a Manipulator.. As a main action (rolling vitality), you may infuse and impose your lifeforce on a non-living object, and give it a command. The command cannot exceed the object’s innate limitations, but your lifeforce allows for reasonable shenanigans.
Some applications include a chest unlocking itself, a piece of paper self-folding itself into an origami giraffe and galloping around, or a grenade pulling its pin. The object must be in your life of sight, or within range of En while active.
Gain X/2 in charisma, where X is the number of levels you have in the class.
