M.D. - Magical Doctor (INT)
Tier 1
Tier 11Tier 1
- Diagnosis - Since the dawn of humanity, magic has existed. This isn't a controversial opinion or an occult belief - this is stone-cold fact. Not just magic, but ki, psionics, chi... The world is a complex and energy-rich place, something any random person off the street could tell you. However, similarly real is humanities desire to understand and utilize these energies for their own benefits. In this world, magic and science live side-by-side. This synergy has lead humanity to a new golden age. This golden age is when you were born. Your aptitude was analyzed and it was shown that later in your life, the path of the healer would be what you walk. Doctors in this world are an incredibly well-respected and honored profession. This is because while physicians in this world need to know both the same anatomy and physiology those in other worlds would need to know, they also must be aware of the complex energy circuitry and magical essence of their patients. Being able to identify energy types is one of the most fundamental skills a doctor must have in their arsenal. As a simple action, you may attempt to determine a living person's energy type based on intelligence.
- College Boy - You were scared at first - how could you not? You had an intimidating field of study ahead of you, one that failing to master could lead to the deaths of the lives you hold in your hands. However, you know that the aptitude scanner is never wrong. This is what you were meant to do. You can do this. Your schooling was rigorous and intense, as you expected it to be. 10 years of your life were dedicated to your studies to try and master your craft, and master your craft you did. As you walked across the stage and accepted your diploma, you realized you'd finally done it. You've become Dr. Vasquez. Don't let it go to your head. You gain X points to intelligence, where X is the number of tiers in this class.
- Stabilize - You never forget your first emergency. Yours happened to be a young wizard, maybe 16 or 17 years old, who had badly mana burned himself. Apparently he had found an old spellbook in his grandfather's attic after his funeral and decided to try and bring him back. Not only had the spell failed, the boy was covered in deep, deep burns. In places the skin was charred and black. In some places you could see the bone. The poor kid was nowhere near strong enough for a spell like that, and even if he was, he was in no state to be attempting it. Your best guess was that he lost control and his mana circuitry simply... combusted. You had no idea if he'd ever do magic again, let alone live. However, thanks to your level-head and quick, efficient work, you were able to keep the kid alive. It was touch and go, but you managed to keep him on this side of the veil. He was lucky, if the mana circuits over his heart had gone, he would've died on the spot. You have a feeling he doesn't feel very lucky though. Especially not after you told him he may never be able to cast a spell again. Once per encounter, you may cure a target of a status ailment and heal them based on intelligence.
- Medi-Scanner - The day your hospital got a shipment of Medi-Scanners is the day you got your best friend you could ever want. With a click of a button, the Medi-Scanner can scan a patient and see everything medically wrong with them, even giving a suggested course of action for healing them. It even has a function to alert you when a registered patient needs immediate attention. A lot of the staff joked how we'd all be replaced by fancy glasses soon enough. You now have your very own Medi-Scanner! CSIP has lovingly adapted it from it's original design to an app for your HUD for easy usage. With it, you may scan a target to check their physical maladies. It will also alert you when one of your allies is in critical condition.
- Ebb and Flow - Some of the veteran doctors, the oldhats who've been at this for 40 years, say that they could simply see how a patient's energy system is set-up with the naked eye, without any tools whatsoever. You of course don't believe them, after all, you've never seen anything. However, with one patient you realize... you do. It isn't really something you see, but something you feel, like a slight tingly feeling in the back of your head. When you feel that, you know you're looking right at an energy vein. Using this as your guide, you've learned that you can actually increase the efficacy of a patient's energy system. Of course, if you wanted you could also inhibit it... but who wants that? Once per day you may either inhibit or enhance the energy flow of a target in melee range.
- Grey's Compendium of Magic and Medicine - Ah, your old college textbook. This was basically your bible back in college. You don't really need it anymore, but you suppose someone else might be able to make use of it... if they don't mind all the highlighting. You may give this book to a target. While holding and reading from this book, they may attempt to use Stabilize. This does NOT include any bonuses to Stabilize from later in this class.
- Live Dammit! - For a moment you're simply staring, dumbfounded down at your patient. One moment before they were alive. Now... However, your stupor only lasts a moment. You know that even a second's hesitation can be the difference between life and death, but there's no time to curse yourself for your foolishness. You grab a syringe full of a silver-y gray goo and inject it directly in the patient's heart. The nanobots you injected will get to work on getting the patient's heart back online and use this pump to spread and reconstruct as much of the body as they can. However, this isn't exactly a guarenteed procedure. You start performing chest compressions to help hasten the movement of the nanobots, they don't exactly have long. You hold your breath... and hear a breath from below you. Once per day, you may attempt to resuscitate a target who has died within one round. Roll a 1d100. If above 95, the target revives. This may not be used on the same target more than once per day.
- Pain-B-Gone - Pain sucks. Ever since the first creature emerged from the protean muck and first stubbed its toe, this fact has been abundantly clear. As a doctor, one of your main concerns is the pain management of your patients. One of the most popular pain control methods is... Pain-B-Gone! Not a very creative name, but it gets the job done. Once per encounter, you may administer Pain-B-Gone to a target to completely nullify their sense of pain for 1d2 turns. Once per day however, you may administer double the dosage and completely sedate a target until save.
- Enerstor (Unique) - Enerstor! The hit new drug that's sweeping the nation! Why is it so popular? Because it's so dang efficient, that's why! Enerstor is a little magic pill (literally) that once per day instantly heals half of a target's physical health and energy reserves. Only from Grey Medical!
- Bedside Manner - You've always felt that most doctors were too... clinical. So many doctors act totally cold and aloof with their patients and spend as little time as humanly possible with them. You've always hated this attitude. You try your best to be as open and warm and, most importantly, sincere with your patients as you can possibly be. You love to go the extra mile. That's why you're here after all, to help people. You gain X/2 points to appeal, where X is the number of tiers you have of this class.
- Stabilize (Bonus) - Some new research finds some incredibly exciting results. It's discovered a way to use a patient's own energy reserves to basically breed more energy for them, only requiring a caretaker to follow their energy lines with their finger. The study goes into detail about why this works, something about drawing energy from energized areas to empty areas and using it to activate and accelerate the cellular generation of more energy, and something about how having your energy in your fingertip also helps to basically magnetize and move it. You won't go into too deep of detail here, but basically, this mains you may now use stabilize to regenerate a target's energy stores.
- Med School - Well energy tends to be the more exciting cases, you do of course run into your run of the mill broken legs, stomach aches, and tumor excisions. You know that stuff like the back of your hand. You have access to practically any and all mundane medical knowledge (Surgical procedures, medications, human anatomy, etc).
- Live Dammit! (Bonus) - A new development has come about and this has completely revolutionized our previous method or resuscitation. Through a fusion of magic and technology, the doctor is now able to mentally control and direct the regenerative nanobots, significantly increasing both their efficacy and patient outcomes. You can even direct them to leave the patient once they've finished their job and to self-sterilize, meaning they may be reused ad-infinitum. This means that you are no longer limited to using this skill once per day, but you may now use it at-will. In addition, instead of a flat 1d100 you may now roll a 1d100 + Intelligence. You may still not use this ability more than once per day on a target.
- Do Some Harm - With all this experience with energy, it stands to reason you'd eventually learn to utilize your own. Looking through a book of medical magic, you find a spell someone has scribbled on the back page. It's named, "Maleficent Transferal - For the healer in need of protection". Might as well learn it. Just in case... After healing a status effect, you may now transfer this status effect to a target.
- Enerstor (Unique Bonus) - Breaking news that will change your life! Through exciting and cost-effective research, we've created a much cheaper and much more efficient form of Enerstor! Instead of being able to only use it once per day, you may now use it once per encounter! Isn't that exciting? Buy Enerstor and other Grey Medical brand products today!
- Med Evac - On busy days, you wonder how you manage to get to everyone. Out of the moment it seems impossible. However, once you're there and the adrenaline starts pumping... you know what you have to do and you're going to do it. If an ally is in critical condition, you receive an additional movement action.
- Ebb and Flow (Bonus) - With a little magical ingenuity, you've developed a little device that's proved invaluable in your practice. It allows you to not help more patients, but at a distance at well. You're thinking of calling a patent office about it soon. Ebb and Flow is now upgraded to a once per encounter ability and may be used at range as opposed to necessitating melee range.
- Grey's Patented Medi-Magi-Bot (TM) - Another exciting Grey Medical innovation! A tiny cute robot friend capable of using all of this class' abilities up to tier 8! Lighten the load and help people you otherwise couldn't! Simply deploy it into your support slot and let it get to work! All of your med-bot's actions are based on your stats.
- Stabilize (Bonus) - There's so much work to be done, you can't just be limited to once per encounter. Stabilize may now be used at-will.
- Do Some Harm (Bonus) - Listen, wizards are nice and all, but they're IDIOTS. After getting this spell and simply tweaking with it for a bit, you've made it much, much more effective. Now it doesn't just work on status effects, but any damage you may heal as well. You see using nanobots and understanding the laws of magic as we know them, it was incredibly simple to-

- Diagnosis (Bonus) - You've been at this for a while. You aren't some greenhorn outta med-school anymore. You understand energy better than any other person on the continent. Seriously, you've given a few talks about it to educate other doctors about the techniques and information you've learned about it. Your diagnosis may now be used as a free action on ANYTHING, meaning you can now examine magical artifacts to see what types of energy make them tick (really handy when a wizard comes in with a staff and you need to know if it'll explode or something). You may also check a target's maximum energy capacity and their current energy level.
